March 26, 2025 Retreat School Board Meeting, Part 1 of 2 Harvey, ND

March 26, 2025 Retreat School Board Meeting, Part 1 of 2 Harvey, ND

This School Board meeting is not an official meeting only a retreat which allows the board to have discussion and brainstorming without making motions. Changes are still happening within the school system. Staff has expressed the need for more involvement, leadership and to have their voice be heard.

The board opened discussion keeping in mind the goals they created in Be Legendary such as transparency, community communication, and many more. The discussion of Teacher burnout was at the top of their concerns. Teachers face every day behavior from students, legislative mandates that stretch them, limited time to accomplish goals and even some are physically abused. Today school kids behavior is a challenge. The Board brought these concerns and more to the table.

Possible solutions were tossed on the table for directions to assist the teachers. Ex. School Policy changes, Support teacher more, Open house, Paras, recognition of teacher's exhaustions, watch for teacher burnout and solutions.....

It was stated that Harvey school district does more than other district. A need to be more visible and welcoming even for the community growth. The board showed potential team work and goals of problem solving as one. They are aiming for positive staff recognition in staff critique, fixing the BM Hansen repairs of the boiler over heating. Fixing equipment is the prioritized. Transparency and leaving open the working document for when they meet again as an active board to make motions.
